These fittings are metal for greater durability. 
This is the earlier bayonet (twist lock) type. The engine end was used until early nineties, the tank end fittings until 1995.

THIS FITTING IS ONLY: FU09476 – female connector. Comes with three adapters: a 3/8″ barb, 1/4″ NPT straight and 90 degree adaptor for the tank end.
