Shimano’s Tiagra reels have re-written the rules of game fishing. As we all know, one of the fundamental aspects of this sport is that the fish we seek are capable of fighting for hours, repeatedly making long runs that can really heat up a drag. Heat build-up can cause the settings to change, leading to insufficient pressure being put on a fish or, at worst, a broken line. Fortunately, Shimano’s hydrothermal Drag System automatically compensates for any heat build-up, thereby maintaining the original drag setting. What’s more, the Tiagra’s prelubricated graphite drag washer is impervious to salt water and will always operate smoothly.

Offset Ergonomic Power Grip The power grip is offset on multiple axis to allow natural hand, arm and wrist angles to improve comfort and power (not available on TI12 or TI16.)

Ergonomic Power Handle (only on model 12 and 16 models) comfortable, non-slip grip provides maximum comfort and torque.

A-RB (Anti-Rust Bearings) are specially treated stainless steel ball bearings that are at least 10 times more corrosion resistant than standard stainless steel ball bearings.

Clicker increases the tension on Freespool and activates a clicking alarm when a fish bites.

Chrome Plated Sideplate Screws The sideplate screws are chrome plated to prevent corrosion between the screws and sideplate.

Shimano's high quality TCurve game rod lineup has seen the addition of a bent butt standup 24 kilo rod and a straight butt standup 37.

The fully rollered bent butt 24 is a sweet rod to use and will become extremely popular with anglers now that east coast yellowfin tuna stocks appear to be on the increase. Plus it's a wicked stick for use on big southern bluefin tuna as well. For the rest of the year it makes an excellent marlin rod for mid-range blacks, stripes and smallish blues.

The straight butt 37 has been designed in response to consumer demand and has a Slick Butt, heavy duty anodised aluminium reel seat and oversize Aftco roller guides and tip - perfect for accommodating those heavy tackle wind-on leaders.

Both rods are triple under and over-bound, plus those unique TCurve blanks are light, strong and incredibly responsive.

Additionally, the existing TCurve eight kilo rod now comes with standard Aftco roller guides, so anglers using sometimes bulky wind-on leaders and knots will have no problems getting them through the guides and onto the rod.
