Shimano Torium 20HGA High Speed Reel

New for 2015, the Shimano Torium HG Reels were designed to create a compact, rigid and powerful saltwater conventional reel with excellent Castability and the durability expected by saltwater anglers. Shimano accomplished this lofty goal by incorporating their most advanced technology into the Torium HG Reels including S-Compact Body, E.I. surface treatment and a Cross Carbon Drag among many other considerations.

The S-Compact body is one of Shimano's more recent developments used in other reels including the Calcutta D. This technology is an essential element to the new Torium HG Reels as it delivers the feeling of a reel a size smaller in the anglers hands, yet remains incredibly durable and rigid in nature. The B-side sideplate, opposite the handle side, is a single piece construction and the main ingredient in the rigid structure of the Torium HG.

E.I., a second layer of surface treatment applied to the reel, is a somewhat new technology that fills in any micro-sized surface impurities giving salt no place to adhere to and no opportunity for corrosion to start. Finally, the Cross Carbon Drag is the ideal material for high drag pressure setting providing the reel with smoothness and consistent performance.

The Shimano Torium range of overhead reels are built on tough foundations for saltwater fishing. The range comes in three models ranging from a smaller but very versatile and capable Torium 16 size up to the tough and larger Torium 30.

The lightweight Torium is a solidly-built star-drag saltwater reel perfect for live bait or bottom-fishing applications. Packed with features like Super Stopper, Cross Carbon Drag, A-RB (Anti-Rust Bearings) and High Efficiency Gearing (HEG), the Torium has it where it counts.
