Shimano T-Curve Bluewater 12/20kg Overhead Rod - 2pc
Once again, Shimano sets the benchmark for high quality rods designed specifically for Australian species and conditions. Shimano engineers and Australian rod designer, Ian Miller have put their heads together again to provide the most outstanding Bluewater series to date.
New light weight handle designs reduce the overall weight of each rod and improve balance and angler comfort. Despite this reduction in weight, the range still retains immense power and response expected out of high quality graphite rods. Extra-hard EVA grips and decorative metal trimmings complement a new enhanced paint finish.
The Bluewater Spin models come in 10–15kg and 15-24kg line class ratings making them very versatile offshore weapons. All models are in a butt-join configuration and are 2.3 metres in length (7’6) which enables them to rocket good sized livebaits and lures into frenzied schools of tuna and kingfish.
The King Mack Spin & Overhead models come with an 8-12kg line class rating with an extra fast tip, ideal for a variety of saltwater boat fishing applications. Each model is 2.13 metres in length (7’0) and comes in a butt-join configuration.
Also new for 2008 is the incorporation of 2 new models – A Snapper and medium Bluewater overhead rod (replacing the previous Bluewater overhead rods). The Snapper model is 2.18 meters in length (7’2) and features split-butt design, Fossil-Wood reel seat and Fuji SIC guides. It is ideal for soft plastic snapper fishing with a line class rating of 3-6kg. The Bluewater Overhead rod is 2.16 metres in length (7’1) with 2 piece butt-join configuration. With a 12-20kg line class rating this rod will be great for medium saltwater fishing with conventional reels.
With its introduction in 2007, the Shimano GT Special was an outstanding success with anglers wanting to throw big poppers and stickbaits for leviathan Giant Trevally. Since then, it has already accounted for GTs up to 60kg in the Coral Sea and abroad. Constructed from a tough, high performance TCurve graphite blank – this rod provides all the attributes needed to turn big GTs away from bommies and coral ledges. An 8ft blank with a slow-parabolic action makes for a rod with an extraordinary casting ability, able to cast 100–250g lures a mile. The rod is rated for PE3-8 with a recommended max drag rating of 12kg.
