All blanks have been specially designed and are handcrafted in our Rotorua factory and then made into rods by our team of skilled and experienced rod builders. DISTANCE 222
This model is the perfect choice for the serious surfcaster who aspires to cast further. The Distance 222 is a fishing rod that will increase your ability to consistently put your bait out into the top fish feeding areas. The combination of a TEXALIUM™ Power Butt and a carbon tip gives you a rod with huge reserves of power and strength while the slimline profile means that the all important balance, blank loading and power transmission needed to achieve a long cast are inbuilt into the rod.
Based on the rod blank that is setting the worldwide tournament casting world on its collective ear these two models are the perfect choice for the serious surfcaster who aspires to cast to that far sandbar or gutter and reach the spots where fish feed but many anglers are unable to reach. During initial field testing Jeff Murray of Auckland achieved casts of 223.6m using a 4 oz sinker while Laurie Mitchell of Dargaville rated it "one of the best all-round surfcasting rods I have ever fished with" after achieving a distance of 202m using conventional surfcasting rigs and a 5.5oz sinker. In the UK and USA tournament casters using the Distance 222 blank are consistently hitting marks between 160 and 250 metres with their specialised techniques. Although those distances may well be beyond most of us mere mortals these are two seriously good fishing rods that will increase your ability to consistently put your bait out into the top fish feeding areas. The combination of a Texalium Power Butt and a carbon graphite tip give these rods huge reserves of latent power and strength while the Slimline profile means that the all important balance, blank loading and power transmission needed to achieve a long cast are inbuilt into the rod. To maximise casting distance we have fitted super smooth BSVLG style ceramic centered guides to both models and optimised the guide sizes and spacings to suit either fixed or free spool reels. Our non-slip grip gives you a sure hold on the rod when it is time to load it up and turn on the power during the cast.
