The MRF55 has 10 NOAA Weather Channels giving instant access to national all hazards and weather information, 24 hours a day. Weather Alert Alerts give an audible tone and visual alarm if threatening weather is nearby. Instant Channel 16/9 Instant access to channel 16 and channel 9 for emergency situations. DSC (Digital Selective Calling) Meets internationally recognized requirements for RTCM- SC-101 Digital Selective Calling that allows you to send a distress signal at the touch of a button or exchange position information with other boats or stations.

The MRF55 has GPS Capability When connected most GPS receivers, you can send your position to other boats in an emergency, or exchange position information with other boats or stations. Dual Watch-monitor two radio frequencies. Scan allows you to Scan all channels to find conversations in progress. Signal Strength Meter Shows the strength of incoming signal. Illuminated Function Keys Allows high visibility of function keys. Illuminated LCD Display: Large display Allows high visibility of display.

The Cobra Noise Canceling Microphone with Controls Blocks background noise. Controls allow instant access to channels 16 & 9 and changing of channels & setting features. Unfortunately DSC Service is not active in New Zealand and is only available in the USA and certain area’s of Europe. DSC has been a topic in coast guard conferences but has not been implemented because of its large setting up expenses.
