Discount Fishing Supplies Kahawai Hunt, To be held in Gisborne and run by Gisborne Surfcasters club on 22-09-2007
Gisborne Surfcasters are holding a KAHAWAI HUNT Surfcasting Competition in Gisborne on the 22-09-2007
You can get tickets on the morning, from instore at Discount Fishing Supplies 441 Gladstone Rd, Gisborne (prior to Comp Day) or for out of town tickets you may contact Andy Morgan (Club President) direct for tickets. Andy's number is 06 8674522.
THIS WAS WON BY ANTONY RURU OF GISBORNE WITH A 2.52KG Kahawai. several fish were caught, and the scene has been set for another Kahawai hunt competition at similar time next year (2008). Gisborne was very priveledged to have Bill Hohepa and his wife Linda film the event for their TV show on Sky TV (15-11-2007). And a good number of Surfcasters benifited from the casting tuition given the next day by fishing Writer & Guru - Gary Kemsley.
Many fishermen learnt a few simple tips on how to cast 150m without having to be too clever. A very rewarding day for all. Full list of prize winners will be placed soon (below)
